Platinum Catalysts for Next-Generation Fuel Cells
Harness the power of superior electrochemical performance with Momentum Materials’ advanced platinum catalysts. Engineered for fuel cell developers who refuse to compromise on efficiency and longevity, our catalysts provide the critical edge you need to power the future.
The Catalyst for Your Success
In the demanding world of fuel cell technology, the performance of your platinum catalyst is non-negotiable. It dictates the efficiency, power density, and lifespan of your entire system. Subpar catalysts lead to sluggish reactions, diminished output, and premature degradation, setting your project back and inflating costs.
At Momentum Materials, we understand these challenges. As leading platinum catalyst manufacturers based in Calgary, AB, we have dedicated ourselves to solving them. Our catalysts are not just components; they are the heart of your fuel cell, meticulously designed to deliver unparalleled performance and reliability.
Why Choose Momentum Materials?
Unmatched Electrochemical Performance
Our proprietary manufacturing process ensures our catalysts have a high electrochemically active surface area (ECSA) through uniform dispersion on the carbon support and controlled particle size. This enables faster reaction kinetics and superior power density for your fuel cells, allowing you to achieve more with less platinum.
Exceptional Durability & Longevity
We engineer our catalysts for stability under the most rigorous operating conditions. By optimizing the dispersion of platinum nanoparticles within the carbon support, we minimize degradation and extend the operational life of your fuel cells, ensuring a greater return on your investment.
Customized to Your Specifications
Every fuel cell application is unique. Our team of experts works directly with you to understand your specific requirements. We offer tailored solutions, adjusting loading and recommending ink recipes to create a platinum catalyst that is perfectly optimized for your system’s design and performance targets.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the price of a Pt/NCP catalyst?
Pricing is dominated by the platinum cost. In most Pt/C catalysts, platinum accounts for 65–90% of the total cost. Higher Pt loading means more platinum per gram and therefore a higher price. Although NCP Supports™ are more expensive than conventional carbon black, in Pt/NCP Catalysts platinum still represents 65–80% of the total cost. For small quantities, you can find pricing for our 50% Pt/NCP in our online shop. For large quantities, pricing benefits strongly from economies of scale. Contact us to discuss your required quantity and supply timeframe for more accurate pricing.
What catalyst types are currently available for purchase, and in what batch sizes?
Our standard catalyst is 50% platinum on NCP-10-HT, with a typical batch size of 100 grams and an annual capacity at the tens-of-kilograms scale. We also offer customized variations, with platinum loadings from 20% to 50% and carbon supports ranging from NCP-HT to MCP-4-HT, depending on application requirements.
Can I purchase the nanoporous carbon support only, without any catalyst loaded?
Yes. We offer NCP Supportsâ„¢ in a range of pore sizes and grades. Please see our NCP Supportsâ„¢ and MCP options to learn more.
What makes your platinum catalysts different from others on the market?
Our key differentiators are superior durability and a higher electrochemically active surface area (ECSA), achieved through our optimized manufacturing techniques and proprietary carbon catalyst support. This ensures your fuel cells operate more efficiently and last longer than those using standard catalysts.
Can you support large-scale production orders?
Yes. While we are proud to support R&D projects with small-batch orders, our facility is fully equipped to scale production to meet the demands of commercial manufacturing, making us a reliable partner for your growth.
What kind of technical support do you offer?
Our relationship with clients goes beyond the sale. We provide comprehensive technical support, from initial consultation and catalyst selection to integration assistance, to ensure you get the maximum performance from our products.
